Join us as an Assistant Principal Ranger (Technical Support) and play a vital role in managing some of Queensland's most valued natural areas. Based in stunning Cairns, this permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and support a multidisciplinary team of up to ten staff in delivering critical projects that protect and enhance the region's protected estates. You'll work closely with the Principal Ranger and Regional Director to oversee the planning, delivery, and reporting of annual work programs, including Estates Management, the regional planning program and Values Based Management Framework, and visitor management initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Lead and support a multidisciplinary team of up to ten staff in delivering critical projects that protect and enhance the region's protected estates.
* Oversee planning, delivery, and reporting of annual work programs, including Estates Management, regional planning, Values Based Management Framework, and visitor management initiatives.
* Develop and implement systems, procedures, and standards aligned with QPWS strategic objectives.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective planning, estates, and visitor management practices.
* Inspire and guide the team to achieve operational excellence while maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace.
* Travel occasionally (including overnight stays) to deliver on regional priorities.
