About the Role
As a Node Maintenance Technician, you’ll support the Defence High Frequency Communications System (DHFCS) and its successor, the EDHFCS. You’ll deliver maintenance support services to ensure mission systems and control equipment meet operational requirements. Your day-to-day will involve preventative and corrective maintenance, fault investigation, technical documentation, and contributing to engineering decisions and process improvements. You’ll work closely with cross‑functional teams, upholding strict security and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on mission‑critical defense communication systems.
- Investigate system faults and implement effective solutions.
- Produce accurate technical documentation and support engineering decisions.
- Collaborate with technical teams across Babcock to ensure seamless integration and knowledge capture.
- Maintain high standards of safety and operational integrity and adhere to security protocols.
Qualifications
- Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Commonwealth Defence Security Clearance as defined by AGSVA guidelines.
- Based locally in Townsville.
- At least five years of experience in a related technical field, preferably in defence or similar environments.
- Robust problem‑solving, communication, and computer system skills.
- Curiosity, courage, and collaboration with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Vocational qualification in a relevant technical discipline (desirable).
- Openness to occasional interstate travel to support national operations.
