The role
We are currently seeking multiple lubrication technicians to join our mining team on a casual/shutdown basis. Successful candidates will be working on site (primarily Rio) and will have previous field lubrication experience in an iron ore mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out lubrication services on fixed plant in accordance with OEM specifications and site maintenance plans
* Perform oil sampling, contamination control and condition monitoring activities, ensuring accurate labelling, handling and applicable documentation – site reports, time sheets, JHA's take 5's, resource allocation forms and any other such documentation as required by the site and the project management team.
* Inspect equipment for wear, leaks, damage or abnormal operation and generate notification reports.
* Maintain strict compliance with Rio Tinto site safety standards, procedures and permit requirements at all times
* Safely handle, store and dispose of lubricants, oils and waste in line with environmental and site regulations
* Complete all required documentation, service reports and digital maintenance records accurately and on time
* Work closely with maintenance, reliability and operations teams to support equipment uptime and asset performance
* Maintain housekeeping standards in lubrication bays, service vehicles and work area
* Participate in pre-starts, toolbox talks, risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives
* Operate site vehicles and lubrication equipment in a safe and responsible manner
Qualifications & Experience
* Must hold a Mechanical Trade Qualification or equivalent
* 1-3 years of experience in a mining environment in a similar position
* Previous experience as a Lubrication Technician, Service Technician or similar role within a mining or heavy industrial environment
* Rio Tinto Inductions advantageous
* Demonstrated experience servicing and lubricating heavy mobile equipment and/or fixed plant assets
* Sound knowledge of lubrication principles, oil sampling, contamination control and condition monitoring practices
* Strong commitment to safety with proven experience in working under strict site safety systems and procedures
* Ability to accurately complete maintenance records, inspections and reports using digital systems
* High attention to detail with a proactive approach to identifying and reporting equipment issues
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team in a remote site environment
