About the Opportunity
The position of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner (ATSI) delivers direct and comprehensive primary health care services, consistent with the Apunipima Way and Model of Care. This position acts as a role model in the provision of holistic care and provides general clinical advice, as part of a multidisciplinary team to improve health outcomes for the people of Cape York.
We are looking for Health Practitioners at various locations. The positions are FIFO from Cairns.
* 2 positions in Aurukun
* 1 position in Kowanyama
About You
To be successful in this role you must have:
* Demonstrated experience and competency as a Health Practitioner within a clinical practice environment, with a sound understanding of integrated client care in a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience performing clinical and health education in a primary health care setting.
* Ability to apply a high level of professional judgement, knowledge and skills in the delivery of clinical care.
* Advanced interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a wide range of clients with diverse needs.
* Organisational skills, including the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
* Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal /or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York.
* Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs.
* Must be willing and have the ability to travel in Cape York either by light aircraft or 4WD as required.
Mandatory Requirements:
* Certificate IV or Diploma in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice.
* A minimum of four (4) years' experience as a Health Worker.
* Current Health Practitioner registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Australian Federal Police Check, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement.
* Current Queensland Drivers Licence.
