Job Overview
The Health and Security Assistant provides a safe and secure environment for staff, patients, and visitors by responding to security incidents, de-escalating challenging situations, and collaborating with healthcare teams as needed.
This role supports frontline healthcare professionals by responding to alarms, supervising key areas, and carrying out essential duties to maintain a smooth hospital operation.
* Supervise key areas and assist with incident de-escalation techniques
* Collaborate with healthcare teams when required to ensure patient safety
* Support frontline staff and maintain a secure hospital environment
* Assist with moving equipment and patients in accordance with workplace health and safety principles
* Work independently with minimal supervision and contribute effectively as part of a team
* Communicate clearly with staff, patients, and the public; apply security techniques, conflict resolution, de-escalation, and restraint when necessary
* Participate in a 7-day rotating roster including weekends and holidays, with morning, afternoon, and night shifts
* Hold a current Driver's Licence and be willing to travel for work-related purposes
Requirements
* Current NSW Security Industries License 1A and a nationally recognized First Aid Certificate or equivalent
* Experience in the security industry as a Security Officer is desirable
* Ability to manage aggressive incidents and respond to duress situations effectively
* Ability to assist with moving equipment and patients in accordance with workplace health and safety principles
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team; take direction from clinical and non-clinical staff
* Strong written and verbal communication skills; understanding of security techniques, de-escalation, and restraint practices
* Willingness to work a 7-day rotating roster including weekends and holidays
* Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work-related travel
