Youth Mentoring, Tutoring, and Program Support

Little Dreamers is Australia's leading support organisation for Young Carers ages 4-25. Young Carers are disadvantaged across all areas; including economic, mental health, education, employment and relationships. That's where Little Dreamers comes in We provide six direct support programs including Dream Experiences, Mentoring, School Holiday Programs and Personal Development Programs. Every Little Dreamers program works towards supporting Young Carers outside of their caring role and ensuring these young people have the same access to opportunities that their non-caring peers have.

We have plenty of volunteer opportunities to suit every personality and schedule. Whether you're interested in becoming an online tutor, helping with office/admin work, or volunteering at one of our fun-filled school holiday programs - we've got the role for you We're looking for committed and enthusiastic change‑makers to join our Dream Team and positively influence the lives of one of Australia's most vulnerable populations.


Duties may include

* Supporting creative, recreational, and skill‑building activities in School Holiday Programs
* Helping facilitate Peer Support sessions, including games, discussions, and group bonding activities
* Helping with program setup, pack‑up, and participant check‑in/out
* Building rapport with Young Carers to promote confidence and belonging
* Providing general support to program facilitators and contributing to team debriefs
* (For tutors): Providing one‑on‑one tutoring in literacy, numeracy, or study skills


Essential Qualities / Requirements

* Enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate about helping young people reach their potential
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team
* Willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check (Blue Card), Police Check and complete Safeguarding Children training (provided)
* Availability during school holidays and/or after school hours for Peer Support or Tutoring sessions


Desirable Qualities

* Experience or studies in education, psychology, social work, youth work, or community development
* Previous experience working with children, tutoring, or facilitating group activities
* Creativity, patience, and adaptability in dynamic program settings
* Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills
* Current First Aid and CPR certification (advantageous but not essential)
