We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Professional Showjumping Horse Trainer to join our team at Yirrkala Stud, Kulnura NSW.
Key Responsibilities:
* Train, condition, and prepare showjumping horses to a professional level, for competition and sale
* Ride and compete horses at showjumping events
* Apply structured training techniques (both ground-based and ridden) to develop performance and responsiveness
* Design and implement tailored training programs to improve horse fitness, behaviour, and competitive outcomes
* Manage the transportation of horses to and from training sessions and competitions
* Monitor horses health and well being, identify issues, and coordinate care with veterinarians and farriers
* Oversee daily stable operations, including feeding, grooming, and general horse welfare
* Supervise and provide guidance to stable staff and junior riders where required
Essential Requirements:
* Minimum of 5 years relevant full-time experience as a show jumping horse trainer/rider, working in a professional stable
* Demonstrated ability to train horses to competitive standard from the ages of 3 (breakers) to World/Nations Cup Level
* Proven experience in educating, riding and competing horses at the above levels
* Proven experience in successfully competing horses to minimum Grand Prix Level (140-150m)
* Proven riding experience in not only jumping but also dressage
* Strong knowledge of horse care, conditioning, and stable management
* Proven experience in educating, riding and managing stallions as well as mares and geldings
* Have had a Heavy vehicle licence for a minimum of 3 years
* Good level of English communication skills
* Physically fit and capable of handling high-performance horses
* Be a Australian Permanent Resident
* Own a vehicle
Desirable Criteria:
* Formal equestrian or horse management qualifications
* Competition record in recognised showjumping events
* References from relevant past employers
The Role:
* Role is full-time permanent position, meeting Australian employment standard
* Role is 5 days a week including some weekends. 40 hours a week
* Candidate must be prepared to work weekends during show period
* Accomodations is provided if required
