About the Role


Are you a passionate and experienced Mental Health Occupational Therapist looking to create life-changing impact? This frontline role involves working closely with Veterans and their families to navigate mental health challenges, rebuild independence, and improve quality of life. You will deliver trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and holistic care to empower individuals to develop resilience, regain purpose, and reconnect with what matters most.


What You'll Do


Clinical Assessment & Intervention

* Conduct comprehensive functional, psychosocial, and mental health assessments for Veterans and families.
* Design and implement evidence-based treatment plans that promote recovery, resilience, and meaningful participation in daily life.
* Deliver one-on-one, group, and family-based interventions focused on emotional regulation, coping strategies, and practical skill-building.
* Provide trauma-informed care to support those impacted by PTSD, anxiety, depression, and service-related challenges.

Functional Recovery & Community Participation

* Support Veterans in rebuilding daily living skills, routines, and meaningful activities.
* Deliver graded exposure therapy, sensory modulation, and activity-based interventions to enhance confidence and independence.
* Conduct home, workplace, and community assessments and recommend adaptive solutions where needed.
* Collaborate with employers, schools, and service providers to facilitate successful reintegration into work, study, and community life.
* Work closely with GPs, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, and other allied health professionals to deliver integrated care.
* Provide family education and coaching to strengthen support networks and coping capacity.
* Actively contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions, case reviews, and service planning.

Compliance & Reporting

* Maintain high-quality, confidential clinical documentation in line with AHPRA and organisational standards.
* Use validated outcome measures to demonstrate impact and support continuous service improvement.
* Participate in program evaluation and innovation, helping us evolve and deliver cutting-edge Veteran care.


What You'll Bring

* Degree-qualified Occupational Therapist with current AHPRA registration.
* Expertise in functional assessment, activity-based intervention, and trauma-informed care.
* Strong clinical reasoning, report writing, and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
* Understanding of the unique psychosocial and functional challenges faced by Veterans and their families.
* Previous experience supporting ADF members, Veterans, or defence-connected communities.
* Additional training in CBT-based OT interventions, sensory modulation, or family systems therapy.
