The Opportunity
This Research Fellow position sits within a Wellcome-funded initiative focused on evaluating animal models in mental health science and developing a publicly accessible online resource to support researchers. The role contributes to two core work packages: assessing the validity and utility of animal models in conditions such as psychosis, depression or anxiety and building a digital platform that consolidates and presents this information. Centred on data extraction and expert review, the position involves assessing the accuracy and appropriateness of scientific summaries, with no laboratory work involved.
This position requires strong collaboration and coordination skills, with a key focus on facilitating meetings across diverse groups including working groups, lived experience committees and steering committees. It involves contributing to the dissemination of findings through conference presentations, academic publications and stakeholder engagement activities. The role also includes managing and supporting junior research staff and contributing to the development of grant proposals, offering an opportunity to play an active role in research leadership and academic advancement.
The position requires a doctoral qualification in behavioural neuroscience or a closely related field, along with demonstrated expertise in statistical analysis and a strong record of peer-reviewed publications. It involves conducting systematic reviews and working with analytical software such as R or Python, with a focus on both independent and collaborative research. The role also requires experience in mentoring, stakeholder engagement and managing multi-stakeholder groups, reflecting the diverse and interdisciplinary nature of the project.
If you are motivated to contribute to high-impact mental health research and shape future research tools, we encourage you to apply for this unique opportunity.
