Role Summary
Working in the South West Region offers the rare opportunity to help protect and enhance one of Australia's most remarkable natural landscapes. From the iconic Leeuwin–Naturaliste and Wellington national parks to the rich jarrah, wandoo, and towering karri forests, the region is a world-renowned biodiversity hotspot filled with pristine beaches, attractive inland waters, and extensive hiking and mountain bike trails. Responsibilities
The South West Region's key service deliverables include nature conservation, parks and visitor services, sustainable forest management, fire management, and land‐use planning. The region's headquarters is based in Bunbury. Services are also delivered via the Blackwood District, located at Busselton with work centres at Margaret River, Nannup and Kirup; and the Wellington District, located at Collie with a smaller work centre at Harvey.
We are seeking to establish a pool of suitable applicants in the role of Ranger.
Under immediate supervision, this position:
* Engages in the delivery of programmed operational activities across parks and reserves, including maintaining and servicing visitor facilities and infrastructure, conducting compliance activities and contributing towards establishing new recreational sites.
* Provides on‐ground support for conservation initiatives such as fire management, feral animal and weed control programmes. Contributes to interpretive and educational activities that help visitors understand and appreciate park values.
* Engages in visitor management, fee monitoring and positive engagement with park visitors, volunteers and contractors.
* Works as part of a collaborative team to ensure parks are safe, well presented and managed in line with environmental and community expectations.

Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following three (3) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.
* Good interpersonal skills with an ability for (Grade 1) or experience in (Grade 2) liaison with the public, commercial tourism operators, community groups, Indigenous groups and other stakeholders.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team, show initiative and to work unsupervised.
* Ability to (Grade 1) or demonstrated experience in (Grade 2) construction and maintenance, carrying out routine maintenance duties, including the use of hand tools, power tools, chainsaws and small engines.
