The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Radiation Scientist to join our regulatory team as an Authorised Officer under the Radiation Protection Act 2004.
This position works within the NT Health Public Health Directorate and reports to the Manager Radiation Protection. The position assists in the implementation of the regulatory regime in the Northern Territory to protect people and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation; in particular, assist processing applications for radiation authorities, managing the database of radiation authorities and implementation of a program of inspections and audit of radiation practices.
Key Responsibilities:
* Statutory inspections of radiation practices and investigate regulatory non-compliance within the NT
* Review and determination of licence applications in accordance with the Radiation Protection Act 2004
* Provide regulatory and radiation safety advice to stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs and the public
