Position: Gas Broker / Head of Desk (WA) Location: Perth, Western Australia, Australia Annual Salary: Negotiable / commensurate with experience.
Imperium Commodity Search is confidentially retained by a global multi-asset brokerage with a storied background in opening / creating new markets across the commodity space.Having successfully launched a gas business in Eastern Australia, our client is seeking the right individual to head up a new-to-market Western Australian business in the gas space, working with mining / industrial and large commercial clients on price discovery, market access and creating a transparent natural gas marketplace in the region.This position will be de-facto head of WA, and work with a small number of other new hires across other asset classes in the region.
Ideally, the successful candidate will come from a sales / brokerage, trading or account management role in the mining sector and be hungry to drive and grow a new product to the market.You will be responsible for driving relationships with suppliers and end-users (mines, industrial and commercial clients) to bring price benchmarking and market access to the physical gas markets in Western Australia.Presently, the market is controlled on a bi-lateral trading basis with longstanding names in the space, and requires the right person with the correct attributes and attitude to bring the region up to date, replicating what has been done with great success in the Eastern markets.Key ResponsibilitiesLead efforts to build relationships with mining projects at inception, expanding mines and industrial clients / end-users of natural gas / LNG products.Actively attend industry conferences / events and market the brand to the target markets in the natural gas space / gas consumer arena.Conduct physical brokerage activity across the natural gas markets, driving relationships and offering best-in-class price discovery / transparency to the industry.Keep up to date with market movements / drivers and events to advise / consult with clients on physical natural gas transactions.Work with senior management in Australia / Singapore on driving growth of the business, working to build the desk and brand presence / awareness.Act as head of the new Perth office, working with other new hires / leading the desk on a cross-asset basis and working with colleagues on cross-sell and business development opportunity.Key Skills & Experience3+ years of experience in a broker / sales management or trading in the natural gas markets.Good knowledge and coverage of mines / industrial and commercial clients in Western Australia region.Excellent drive / motivation to build a new desk / open a new market.Able communicator with the ability to work with teams in other locations.Personable and commercial mindset, with proven experience in driving sales / business development activity.Located in Perth, Western Australia or able to relocate.All conversations are held in the strictest of confidence.If this position is appealing, please apply below or contact Zuzana Zvolenská at Managing Consultants.
