We are seeking an experienced Payroll & Accounts Payable Officer to join our close-knit finance team in a primarily payroll-focused role with genuine flexibility. This is an ideal opportunity for a confident payroll professional who enjoys ownership, accuracy, and working in a values-driven organisation.
The role
This position is part-time, with flexibility around days and hours, and the option to increase to full-time during peak periods or as business needs evolve.
The role is structured as:
* Payroll – approx. 50%
* Accounts Payable – approx. 30%
* General accounting support – approx. 20%
You will have end-to-end responsibility for payroll, supported by a collaborative finance and HR team.
The Responsibilities
Payroll (Primary focus)
* End-to-end processing of fortnightly payroll for Australian employees
* Managing new starters, terminations, variations, allowances, leave and super
* Ensuring compliance with PAYG, superannuation, Fair Work and relevant legislation
* Payroll reconciliations, journals and general ledger entries
* STP reporting and end-of-financial-year payroll activities
* Managing payroll queries with professionalism and discretion
* Timesheet management and follow-ups
* WorkCover calculations, returns and insurance provisions
* Salary packaging and novated lease administration
* Award, annualised salary and compliance reconciliations
Accounts Payable
* End-to-end AP processing including invoice coding and payment runs
* Supplier reconciliations and query resolution
* AP accruals and support during month-end close
General & Shared Duties
* Audit support and documentation
* Continuous improvement of payroll and AP processes
* Collaboration with HR and Finance
* Staying current with legislative changes
* Preparation of and provided information for various reports
About you
You're someone who takes pride in getting payroll right and enjoys being trusted with responsibility.
You'll bring:
* Qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent experience
* 3–4+ years' experience in end-to-end Australian payroll
* Experience across accounts payable
* Strong knowledge of PAYG, superannuation and Fair Work requirements
* High attention to detail, confidentiality and time management
* A calm, professional approach to payroll queries
