Retina & Eye Consultants is a busy multi-site ophthalmology practice with 4 locations across St George, Sutherland and Illawarra areas. We are leading specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of retina and macula conditions.

Our dedicated team of Ophthalmologists and support staff is committed to delivering the highest level of expert care to our patients, making use of the latest available technology.

Our rooms are purpose-built, state‑of‑the‑art facilities designed to accommodate our patients' ophthalmic needs in a comfortable clinical environment.

About the role

Reporting to the Reception Team Leader/Practice Manager, this Medical Receptionist role is a casual position.

The job location will be in Wollongong fortnightly on a Friday between the hours of 8am and 6pm. There is an option to take on additional shifts at our Miranda rooms on Thursdays or alternate Fridays if desired.

We are seeking an experienced medical receptionist. On‑the‑job training will be provided to the successful candidate.


Responsibilities include:

* Meeting and greeting patients
* Answering the phone and booking appointments
* Patient billing and receipting
* Dealing with Medicare and DVA
* Banking and general office duties
* As part of a team, liaising with all levels of medical professionals and administration staff as well as patients.
* Coordinating the day‑to‑day operations of the clinic
* Relationship management with health practitioners


Skills, experience, and attributes required:

* Previous medical receptionist experience
* Knowledge of Genie software preferred but not essential
* Fast and accurate typing skills, with attention to detail
* High level of computer literacy (competent in Microsoft Office products)
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Well‑developed organisational skills
* Ability to learn new technologies and workflow
* Contribute to a professional and supportive/flexible team environment
* A warm, friendly, and motivated personality
* Ability to work in a fast‑paced work environment
* Flexibility to cover personal and holiday leave
* Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
