Your Impact
Reporting to the Lead, Health and Safety, you will play a key role in implementing, embedding and continuously monitoring safety initiatives across Newmont Tanami Operations. You'll provide professional safety advice, coaching and mentoring to support leaders, employees and contractors in maintaining a strong, proactive safety culture across both underground and surface operations.
This role is critical to the delivery and ongoing effectiveness of Newmont's Risk Management System (RMS), Fatality Risk Management (FRM) framework and Health, Safety and Leadership Practices (HSLP).
As part of our team, you will:
* Provide in-field safety coaching and support to leaders, supervisors and frontline teams
* Maintain a strong site presence across surface and underground operations
* Deliver site-wide safety training, inductions and learning programs
* Facilitate Site Safety Committees and support Health & Safety Representatives
* Complete FRM Critical Control Verifications and planned inspections in line with schedules
* Support incident investigations, ensuring quality root cause analysis and effective corrective actions
* Manage Enablon workflows including actions, audits and reporting
* Contribute to the development and review of safety documentation, procedures and toolboxes
* Support RMS certification, compliance audits and adoption of Newmont technical standards
* Promote and actively support HSLP initiatives including Visible Felt Leadership
Job description:
Prerequisites for your success in this role
Required
* OHS-related Degree with proven experience in underground mining and/or processing
OR
* Certificate IV in OHS with strong experience in underground mining and/or processing
* Experience conducting incident and accident investigations
* Strong understanding of Risk Management Systems and Safety Management Systems
* Experience developing and applying risk management tools
* Advanced computer literacy and reporting skills
* Current Australian driver's licence
* Ability to work rotating day/night shifts
* Mask fit ready
Desirable
* Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment
* Safety Management System Auditor qualification
* Experience improving event, action and safety management systems
