The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef/Sous Chef to lead our kitchen team. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
* Operations: Supervise daily kitchen operations and ensure all food is prepared according to established recipes and requirements.
* Quality Control: Ensure all meals are produced on time, in sufficient quantities, and meet our high standards of presentation and taste.
* Inventory Management: Maintain stock levels of all kitchen supplies and manage ordering/waste.
* Leadership: Oversee and supervise all kitchen staff, ensuring they are aware of their duties and expectations.
* Training: Mentor and teach new staff the skills required to perform their roles to the required standard.
* Delegation: Effectively delegate duties to the team based on menu requirements and service flow.
* Compliance: Monitor work to ensure all health, safety, and food hygiene tasks are completed as required.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Qualifications: A relevant AQF Diploma plus 2 years of work experience in a similar role, OR at least 3 years of relevant experience in the same occupation.
* Cuisine Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of Italian cuisine [optional: specifically the art of making fresh pasta].
* Leadership: Proven ability to manage, motivate, and lead a diverse kitchen team.
* Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Attributes: You must be punctual, organized, trustworthy, and maintain a professional appearance.
* Problem Solving: The ability to take initiative, make quick decisions, and solve problems under pressure.
* Attention to Detail: A high level of precision regarding food quality and kitchen cleanliness.
