Our client is a customer-focused local government that aims to enable the local community to thrive. This philosophy has led to the need for an Urban Designer with a strong emphasis on graphic design work.
This position will involve working closely with planners and urban designers to produce documentation, diagrams, and 3D models. The successful candidate will focus on contributing towards keeping the City Development Control Plan (DCP) and other planning and design policies current.
Key Responsibilities
* Design visually appealing and accessible documents, maps, and diagrams.
* Conduct scenario testing using 3D modelling software.
* Collaborate with other design professionals, planners, and internal stakeholders to ensure project success.
* Ensure project timelines are met while maintaining the highest standards of quality in documentation and graphics.
* Adhere to accessibility standards in document layout and design.
* Support the delivery of master plans, the 3D model project, and other planning and design initiatives as required.
Requirements
* Experience working in urban design, 3D modelling, and visualisation.
* Strong graphic skills, including proficiency in Giraffe, Sketchup, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and/or equivalent, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
* Demonstrated experience in preparing urban design and planning reports.
* Demonstrated experience in producing sophisticated document layout and design.
* Proven organisational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to prioritise own workload and to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality outcomes.
* Ability to consult and liaise effectively with a wide range of people in a culturally diverse environment.
* Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Knowledge of and experience with accessible design standards.
