Construction Lawyer, Associate - Senior Associate

About the role
We are seeking a talented construction lawyer to join one of Queensland's preeminent Construction, Infrastructure and Projects teams. Recognised for its depth of expertise and the calibre of its work, our team is at the forefront of major construction law matters across the State and beyond. With a genuine commitment to developing our lawyers in a large specialist team environment, you will have opportunities at both a local and national level to receive mentoring and training from a broad range of experts in the field, including peers and senior leaders.
You will assist clients in the context of varied and large-scale projects over a range of sectors including transport and social infrastructure, residential, renewables, commercial, and industrial working for a mix of project owners (including government), major contractors and engineering companies. You will work with clients to manage disputes during and after the delivery of projects, including in the context of adjudications and expert determinations, and act in high-value and complex litigation and arbitration. In that context, you will be expected to prepare advices, draft evidence and legal submissions for adjudications and expert determinations and have day-to-day conduct of litigious matters and instructing Counsel and technical experts as well as supervise paralegals and lawyers in the team (depending on your level of experience).
Your clients will include government, developers, multi-national engineering companies and some of the largest head contractors in the country.
About you
The successful candidate will be at least 2 years PAE, up to SA level and ideally have project delivery/back-end construction or infrastructure experience with sound knowledge of the sector. We will however consider strong litigation lawyers who are adept at civil procedure, particularly those with experience from the mining, resources or energy sectors and are seeking a long-term career within construction. You will enjoy the dynamics of working in a collaborative team with a strong commitment to achieving client outcomes and a desire to continually develop your technical capability.
