The Opportunity
We are seeking a commercially minded Senior Finance Manager who wants to operate at a CFO advisory level — not just manage transactions.
This is not a traditional "compliance first" accounting role. While you will oversee core finance functions, your primary focus will be partnering with business owners to:
* Drive forecasting, cashflow modelling and scenario planning
* Improve systems, controls and commercial processes
* Support capital raising, growth and performance optimisation
* Act as a trusted financial sounding board to founders and boards
You will manage a diverse client portfolio and provide oversight of transactional processing (BAS/IAS, payroll, AP/AR, reconciliations, monthly reporting and year-end coordination), but the role is intentionally positioned above the transactional layer.
This is ideal for someone who:
* Thinks commercially, not just technically
* Is comfortable having performance conversations
* Wants exposure to real business building
The role can be performed virtually. We are open to candidates based anywhere in Australia, including Perth, Broome, Sydney or remote locations, where we find the right entrepreneurial talent.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Strategic & Advisory
* Cashflow forecasting and runway analysis
* KPI development and performance reporting
* Board-level reporting packs and financial commentary
* Scenario modelling and business planning
* Supporting clients through growth phases and structural change
* Reviewing monthly accounts and management reporting
* Overseeing BAS/IAS, payroll and compliance processes
* Ensuring strong financial controls and systems
* Supporting year-end and external accountant coordination
Leadership
* Mentoring junior team members
* Driving process improvement initiatives
* Contributing to SEAA's advisory product development
What You'll Bring
* 7+ years' experience in accounting, financial management or commercial finance
* Experience supporting SME business owners or founder-led businesses
* Strong capability in forecasting, modelling and financial analysis
* A degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
* CA qualification or similarExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with confidence engaging at executive level
