Job Description We are seeking an ECC Head Nurse at ARH Essendon Fields to lead our nursing team! This is a permanent full‑time position (Monday - Friday with one weekend shift a month) with remuneration between $48‑$52 per hour PLUS a benefits package tailored to your skillset and career goals.
Your New Role As the ECC Head Nurse you have a shared responsibility of administration and management of the ECC nursing team. You will find a blend of clinical and administration responsibilities, allowing you to make a lasting impact on patient care and overall operations. Your daily tasks involve team development, liaising with intra‑ and inter‑departmental team members, upholding high standards of ECC/ICU care, driving team development, and participation in all aspects of workflow in a supportive environment. You will advocate on behalf of the ECC nursing team and act as a representative for collaborative engagement between other departments, aiming for a one‑hospital approach and business as a whole. You will also have access to all the items required to practice emergency and critical care at the highest level, including intensive care ventilators, blood gas analysis, IDEXX pathology, cage‑side ultrasound and on‑site CT and MRI. We encourage case collaboration and you will work closely with the Surgery and Medicine Specialist nursing teams to deliver the best standard of care.
Who We Are Looking For
Cert IV or above
Experience leading a team of nurses in a senior capacity
Competence with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Committed to being a team player, a good communicator and contributing to a positive workplace environment
Desirable
Additional qualifications e.g. VTS or Vets Now Certification
Management training (formal or informal through CPD) would be advantageous
Experience using RxWorks and Smartflow veterinary software
