Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day laboratory support services within the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Bundoora Campus to ensure teaching activities are delivered efficiently and in compliance with Health & Safety and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the preparation, setup, and pack-down of equipment for laboratory and simulation sessions; manage ad hoc scheduling requests; coordinate timetabled activities.
- Orient staff to laboratory procedures, support teaching staff with equipment use, monitor stock levels, and order equipment and consumables; maintain laboratory resources.
- Supervise and roster laboratory support staff to maintain consistent service delivery and coverage across scheduled activities.
- Act as a central point of contact for staff and students to support the smooth operation of laboratory services; assist clinical laboratory activities across Clinical Schools when required.
- Contribute to a high standard of operational integrity and responsiveness in laboratory services.
- Note: This role supports the practical classes of the Nursing & Midwifery students and requires availability to work 7 hrs 15 mins between 7:30am and 7:30pm on a rotational roster.

Skills and Experience

- Strong knowledge and practical experience in Nursing and Midwifery laboratories; safe operation and maintenance of relevant equipment; understanding of techniques and procedures used in clinical training.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot high-fidelity simulation mannequins and task trainers used in nursing and midwifery education.
- Skill in preparing lab spaces for practical classes, including layout design, equipment setup, and alignment with curriculum requirements.
- Knowledge of current OHS legislation, regulations and standards; experience in managing safe and compliant operations in a teaching environment.
- Capability to manage consumables, order supplies, and maintain accurate stock and equipment usage records.
- Familiarity with simulation control software, audiovisual recording systems, and digital platforms used in blended learning environments.
