About the Role

An opportunity has become available for a passionate and experienced Director of Music to lead and inspire a thriving, T–12 music program at The Scot's College. This is a full-time, permanent role suited to a visionary educator who is committed to excellence in both academic and co-curricular music education.

As Director of Music, you will contribute to a culture of musical excellence and innovation, nurturing talent and promoting high standards in performance, theory, and instrumental instruction across the College. You will work collaboratively across campuses, build strong community relationships, and play a pivotal role in shaping a rich and well-rounded educational experience for our students.

Key responsibilities

As Director of Music, you will :

* Provide strategic and operational leadership of the College's T–12 Music program across all campuses, in alignment with the school's vision of Leadership through teamwork.
* Oversee all musical activities, including academic music programs, co-curricular ensembles, instrumental tuition, music scholarships, and major College events (e.g. Music Camp, Awards Night, Studio Concerts, cross-campus performances).
* Chair the Music Leadership Team, guiding the direction and development of music education from early years to Year 12.
* Manage departmental resources and administration, including budgeting, timetabling, communications, marketing, compliance (WHS and Child Protection), and third-party service provider coordination.
* Foster a culture of excellence and inclusion, nurturing student potential, encouraging participation at all levels, and celebrating the individual strengths of each learner.
* Collaborate with key stakeholders, including staff, students, parents, and the Parent Support Group, to build strong community relationships.
* Contribute to the broader educational experience, supporting College-wide events, initiatives, and the spiritual and personal development of students.

* A deep understanding of the developmental needs of boys in a learning environment.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented approach.

* Creativity, adaptability, and a demonstrated ability to innovate within a structured educational setting.
* Excellent understanding and extensive experience in educating boys.
* You model respect, empathy, and humility.
* You actively foster a sense of belonging and community.
