Handling all aspects of Accounting and Office Management

Immediate start available based at North Geelong depot
A hands‑on role for an all‑rounder requiring proven accounting/bookkeeping expertise, to provide accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring the financial efficiency and effectiveness of the business. Also involved in managing day to day operations, including depot staff and providing customer service as required.
THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Located in North Geelong this long‑established recycling depot requires a permanent full‑time Accountant or Bookkeeper to join the team. This role will deliver accurate and timely monthly reports, be hands on and take a leading role with payroll and accounts payable, and flexible to support customer service team delivery, and manage depot and office staff, as required.
THIS ROLE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR
To succeed you will be a proven performer when it comes to the following responsibilities:
Monthly Reporting
* Prepare balance sheet reconciliations – debtors, creditors, stock, plant, and equipment
* Prepare monthly management accounts including standing journals, bank reconciliations, balance sheet, PL, and cashflow
* Prepare end of month reports including journals
* Assist with preparation and lodgement of statutory returns, year‑end, including quarterly ATO Business Activity Statements
Project Accounting & Reporting
* Management of accounts payable, accounts receivables, payment runs, bank reconciliations, business credit cards and asset management.
* Regularly updating and maintaining pricing schedule
Management Reporting
* Complete weekly payroll and all payroll related statutory obligations including Workcover, Payroll Tax and Superannuation
* Ensure financial and accounting policies are followed as required
* Calculation of accruals
* Accounts payable & receivable
* Prepare invoices for clients, processing all payments via EFT to customers, follow up outstanding debts, receipting payments from customers
Business Management
* Manage day to day business operation in absence of the owner
* Back up assistance for HR function
* Identify areas of improvement and potential efficiencies across all entities to ensure the company meets and exceeds its financial targets
* Supervising and allocating duties to all staff, as required
Customer Service & Administration
* Provide general office duties including answering phones and other office tasks
* Handling face to face and telephone customer enquiries
* Processing customer payments
* Ad hoc administrative tasks as required
General
* Ensure completion of all month end procedures
* Stock control and adjustments
* Support external audit requirements
* Fixed Asset Management and reporting
* Credit card entries and reconciliations
* Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
* Website updates and maintenance
* Insurance research and renewals
YOU WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING
* Accountant Qualification (CA or CPA) not essential if demonstrated sufficient Bookkeeping expertise or working towards qualifications
* Minimum 5 year's accounting and bookkeeping experience
* Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Software (Excel and Word)
* Proven management or people leadership experience (desirable)
* QuickBooks and Reckon Accounts Premier Software skills
* Reliability to be fully onsite role normally at 7.30am start (with possible later start e.g. 8.30am negotiable if required).
