Lead Ecologist Role
The Lead Ecologist will drive strategic growth, technical excellence, and innovation in ecological assessments and management planning for transport, energy, and future‐fuels projects. They will contribute expertise in fauna, flora and ecological communities, ecosystems, and landscape function to multi‐disciplinary assessments that inform planning, design, and nature‐based solutions for high‐profile projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead field and office‐based ecological assessments.
- Provide strategic planning, technical advisory, project management, field practice, impact assessment, management planning, and approval process navigation.
- Collaborate with national practice groups and global industry experts to solve clients' pressing challenges.
- Embrace remote sensing and digital solutions to improve efficiencies and address current and future challenges.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant ecological experience.
- Applied practice supporting State and Commonwealth approval processes.
- Experience with flora and fauna species and ecosystems of Queensland – Brigalow Belt, North Queensland and SEQ Bioregions advantageous.
- Experience working in a consulting environment – highly advantageous.
- Class C, open licence (essential) and experience with 4WD (preferable).
- Relevant degree qualification (Bachelor's degree in Science, specialising in ecology/environmental science).
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), data management and remote sensing – advantageous.
