Environmental Health Professional Role
This vital role is crucial for community well-being, ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of environmental health functions in line with relevant Acts and Regulations. As a key figure in delivering the Environmental Health Program, you will provide high-standard services consistent with Council and community expectations.
The position is responsible for various operational programs and regulatory duties, including:
* Food safety and public health regulation management
* Environmental protection and compliance monitoring
* Planning and enforcement coordination
Key responsibilities include:
* Regulating food businesses (fixed premises, temporary food stalls, and mobile food vehicles)
* Inspecting public swimming pools and spas, including the Swimming Pool Safety Barrier Program
* Maintaining surveillance on public health premises such as hairdressers, beauty salons, and skin penetration operators
* Regulating cooling water and warm water systems
Requirements for this role include:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health
* Knowledge and experience in applying relevant legislation, including the Food Act 2003, Public Health Act 2010, Local Government Act 1993, Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979, Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, Impounding Act 1993, and other related acts
* Demonstrated experience in investigations and enforcement, including inspections, evidence gathering, brief preparation, statement issuance, and conflict resolution across public health, environmental protection, and food safety
