Sales and Distribution Manager – UQ Press
Join the award-winning University of Queensland Press (UQP) – one of Australia's oldest and most respected publishing houses, recognised as the ABIA Small Publisher of the Year in ****, ****, **** and ****.
We're seeking an experienced Sales and Distribution Manager to lead UQP's domestic and international sales, warehousing, and distribution activities during a 12-month parental-leave period.
Working closely with internal teams and third-party partners, you'll drive efficient, profitable strategies, strengthen relationships across the publishing ecosystem, and ensure UQP's titles reach readers throughout Australia and worldwide.
This position is based in Brisbane, Queensland. A remote working arrangement (interstate) may be considered and will require further Executive approval.
Key Responsibilities
Lead effective and profitable sales, warehousing, and distribution strategies in Australia and internationally.
Manage relationships with Penguin Random House Australia and Penguin Random House New Zealand and liaise directly with booksellers and key accounts.
Provide sales analysis and regular reporting for the Publishing Director and the UQP team.
Develop and implement creative sales opportunities, both online and in-store, for new and existing titles.
Represent UQP at industry conferences and events.
Oversee metadata and stock management in collaboration with partners and UQP staff.
Prepare sales forecasts and budgets, manage expenditure, and provide contractual advice for third-party agreements.
Produce high-quality reports for the UQP Board as requested.
Maintain productive relationships with authors on sales and distribution matters.
About You
Postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards) in sales or marketing, with extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven record of achieving impactful sales results through strategic, creative, and analytical approaches.
Strong understanding of sales techniques and market trends.
Demonstrated ability to build strong stakeholder relationships and contribute to a high-performing team culture.
Experience analysing data to improve service delivery and demonstrate return on investment.
Skilled in managing financial and human resources in dynamic environments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with diplomacy and professionalism when engaging diverse stakeholders.
You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment.
