Our 4-year Machinist Apprenticeship gives you hands‐on experience manufacturing precision components using advanced machining equipment, while completing a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Machining) (MEM30219).

You'll learn from industry experts, train in world‐class facilities, and be supported every step of the way. Komatsu's apprentice program is one of the best in the country, recognised at the National Training Awards with multiple awards for employing and developing apprentices.

About the Qualification

The MEM30219 Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Machining) is a nationally recognised Australian qualification. It prepares individuals with comprehensive training in fitting, machining, and general engineering trade skills, preparing them to work on componentry associated with heavy industry, mining, and construction machinery.

This Qualification Develops Skills In
* Interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Perform precision machining using manual lathes, milling machines, and drilling equipment.
* Operate CNC machinery and basic programming.
* Manufacture, modify, and repair mechanical components.
* Assemble and install mechanical systems and equipment.
* Use precision measuring instruments and quality control techniques.
* Apply workplace health and safety procedures.

The role of a Machinist in Komatsu involves working to build and repair componentry in a workshop environment. Holders of this qualification demonstrate strong technical ability, precision, comprehensive practical skills and knowledge and a commitment to safety and quality, making them well suited to workshop‐based roles.
