The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced, organised and down-to-earth Full-Time Bookkeeper / Assistant Accountant to join the growing team at Discount Lighting and Fans.
This role is ideally suited to a reliable finance professional with strong Xero experience who is seeking a stable, long-term position within a supportive and well-established organisation. Due to the nature of our operations, this position is based onsite.
You'll work closely alongside another Bookkeeper and an Accounts Assistant, collaborating to ensure the finance function operates efficiently and accurately.

About the Role
As our Bookkeeper / Assistant Accountant, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of the business. You'll work collaboratively with our existing finance team while also managing your own responsibilities with a high level of autonomy.
This role suits someone who is confident in their skills, enjoys collaboration, and appreciates flexibility without compromising on quality or accountability.
What You'll Be Doing
* End-to-end bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and journals
* Supporting payroll processing and responding to pay-related queries
* Assisting with month-end close and management reporting
* Reconciling systems, including inventory and cost of goods
* Assisting with BAS preparation and compliance requirements
* Responding to ad hoc finance and administration requests
* Identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies
What We're Looking For
* Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping or assistant accounting experience
* Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
* Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing retail business
* Friendly, reliable and team-focused approach
* Relevant accounting or bookkeeping qualifications (practical experience highly valued)
Software & Systems
* Xero – Advanced proficiency in Xero, including complex transactions and reporting features
* MS Office Suite – Competent
* Retail Express – Advantageous but not essential
* Shopify – Advantageous but not essential
