Purpose
Ensure profitable Bamberger Amco Polymers growth through account development and opportunity pipeline development in support of our key line card partners and in support of the BA Polymers commercial sales team. The role relies on the broad knowledge and expertise of the business development leader in the multiple market segments for engineering thermoplastics, OEM processes and protocols as well as a deep knowledge of the overall plastic resin supply chain. The BDM will bring together these key skills and knowledge to serve in a leadership and field role for North America.
Areas of Responsibility / Tasks
This Business Development position offers the ideal candidate the opportunity to serve in a multi-faceted leadership role based on the status of the customer account within the BAP framework.
The BDM will use various techniques to assess and open new doors at OEM and supplier accounts in terms of introducing the BA Polymers product line, business philosophy and services coupled with overall account assessment and development to the active commercial stage. This is a discovery and relationship building endeavor with the objective of expanding BAP's customer base and breadth of opportunities. A key metric for the BDM will be new business opportunities added/created (the Pipeline) and closed plus new account activation.
Additionally, the BDM role will serve in partnership format with our local and regional sales team members and the Senior Leader of Business Development in North America to create an attractive support model to further develop business opportunities at existing customers. There is a degree of shared ownership that relies heavily upon frequent involvement of the BDM to support the growth and expansion objectives of the sales team.
Lastly, there is a consultative element to the BDM role in which the BDM provides guidance and support as requested by the sales organization at currently active accounts but relies on the leadership of the sales organization to direct all efforts. The modes of support cover a wide range of activities including OEM specification guidance, material selection, application expertise and basic market insights to name a few.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable with serving the company through this wide range of commercial endeavors.
Additional Activities / Metrics / Expectations
Develop a detailed knowledge of our ETP product portfolio with respect to the full range of polymer families, applicability in multiple market segments and the unique selling propositions offered by our supply partners and their products.
A key metric for the BDM is to grow the opportunity pipeline for our major ETP partners. Those key partners as of 2025 are BASF, Sabic Specialties (SHPP), and Sabic Petchem. Ravago Manufacturing (RMA) and Lyondell Basell and others from our line card.
Lead discussions with our main ETP partners as it relates to business development activity at Accounts including new account penetration and CRM opportunity list (developed by BDM's individually and jointly with our sales organization). There will be OEM Development and Pipeline reporting by the BDM team to the Sales Team and BA Polymers Leadership Team as well.
Interact and provide industry expertise and direction for our internal customers. (Sales Account Managers, Regional Sales Management and Product Management)
Interact and lead marketing communications idea development, trade show execution, website landing spot oversight, etc.. in support of the larger digital marketing efforts by BA Polymers.
Will provide leadership as it pertains to representing and executing sustainability objectives for BA Polymers…. primarily in support of our Director of Sustainability.
Work jointly with the other BDM's and management to continue to develop, refine and manage our strategy for growth in an ever-changing market.
Will regularly present to internal management and commercial sales organization the state of their Business Development Efforts and our ongoing strategy and impact for growth.
Continue to create and refine our consultative support model in support of the regional sales teams.
Develop competent use of digital business tools such as Microsoft CRM, Groots, Internal SharePoint Sites and the Ravago Tableau reporting and research tools (Sales, Analysis, Inventory, Freight, Customer search, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications/ Education / Experience / Certifications
Bachelor's Degree, advanced degree preferred
10+ years related experience in Engineered Thermal Plastics
Exhibit creativity and willingness to solve commercial challenges
Must possess excellent interpersonal, people management and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Detail oriented, disciplined, ability to prioritize & multi-task
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Must be able to operate and travel by passenger vehicle.
Open and able to travel occasionally by air.
Must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise, with/or without the use of a private office.

Annual Salary
$130,000 - $175,000 + per year (depending on skills/experience) + Bonus
