Implementing disease control and surveillance activities for notifiable infectious diseases involves developing strategies to mitigate the spread of disease and providing expert advice on outbreak management.
The public health nurse will be responsible for tracing individuals exposed to a notifiable infectious disease, as well as educating the community about ways to prevent disease transmission.
In addition, the public health nurse will support the immunisation team and contribute as an immunising nurse in school vaccination programs.
A current registered nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration and CPR certification is required, along with authority to provide immunisation services or willingness to work towards this.
Excellent computer skills and experience in using databases are essential for this role.
