Overview
Clinical Research Midwife – Heat and Health Research Centre at the University of Sydney. Part-time (0.6 FTE) fixed-term contract for 2 years. Base salary starting at level 6 ($103,185) pro rata + 17% superannuation.
About the opportunity
The Clinical Trial Midwife is responsible for supporting the conduct of clinical research projects in the field of extreme heat and child and maternal health. This position will be based in the Thermal Ergonomics Laboratory within the Heat and Health Research Centre at The University of Sydney, Camperdown Campus. You will support the clinical trial process from planning to execution, handle data capture and verification, and ensure adherence to standards while fostering relationships with research staff and stakeholders. You will ensure Good Clinical Practice and that each aspect of the trial meets high ethical and scientific standards.
- Support the end-to-end clinical trial process, assisting with planning, initiation, and execution of trials, and ensure smooth operations from start-up to close-out.
- Support data capture and verification for clinical trials, maintaining accurate records and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Build productive relationships with research and professional staff, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
- Uphold the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in all clinical trials, ensuring ethical and scientific quality in design, conduct, recording, and reporting.
- Champion a proactive approach to health and safety, review and provide feedback on work-area protocols, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure consistent safety standards.
- Use critical thinking and problem solving to analyse midwifery practice to provide safe, appropriate and responsive quality support to trial participants. Respond effectively to emergencies and changes in patient status as required.
- Undertake other duties within the classification level as required.
About you
- Experience in clinical trial management and supporting clinical trials.
- AHPRA-registered nurse.
- Knowledge of ICH guidelines and good clinical practice in a research-intensive environment.
- Strong data analysis and analytical problem solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with tact and discretion.
- Proficient research software skills.
- Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field or equivalent training and experience.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary research team.
