Automation Technician Jobs at Tata Steel UK require automation specialists with a time-served apprenticeship and HNC or higher in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing specialist engineering support to manufacturing production lines
* Responding to plant breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum
* Designing, modifying, and improving plant equipment software to operate at peak performance
* Maintaining existing systems, implementing PLC code, supporting major line improvements, and contributing to new projects
* Writing and maintaining onsite electrical procedures, conducting investigations into plant issues, and working closely with other engineers to develop innovative solutions that enhance manufacturing processes
The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with Allen Bradley Control / Compact Logix or Siemens S7 PLCs, as well as AC / DC Inverter drives. Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to read engineering drawings, and knowledge of SCADA, HMI development, and industrial communication protocols are also beneficial.
