About The Opportunity

This is an opportunity for you to apply your studies in an environment in which you will be receiving comprehensive support, professional development opportunities and a structured learning plan to guide you as you commence your career.

This Early Career role is specifically designed for individuals who have lived and living experience of mental health challenges, substance use, addiction, and/or suicidality. Whether your experience comes from personal journey or from supporting someone close to you, this role provides an opportunity to channel that experience into meaningful support for others within our community.

Throughout the program, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills to:

Provide peer support to participants navigating mental health, substance use, addiction, and/or suicidality challengesBuild reciprocal and supportive relationships with participants that focus on strengths and recovery. Working to uphold participant voices wherever possibleEmpower participants in their recovery journey by utilising lived experience with a focus on the Intentional Peer Support framework

Flexibility to complete this program across part‐time hours is available (minimum four days a week) with rosters designed to support your study and life commitments.

By the end of the program, you will have honed the essential skills to excel in and make a meaningful impact within the rewarding Mental Health Peer Work sector.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (completion preferred) We invite applications from people at different stages of their learning journey. This includes those who have completed a related study stream, are interested in pursuing the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or have completed the theory component and are yet to finalise their placement hoursLived/Living experience or a personal experience of supporting someone with mental health challenges, substance use and or addiction or suicidalityWillingness to intentionally and purposefully use this experience to support others100 points of identificationRight to Work within AustraliaSatisfactory National Police Records Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check or willingness to obtainNDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
