About The Group
We have an exciting opportunity for a Lawyer to join our Digital Economy team within our Corporate group, advising private and public sector clients and government on matters spanning industries and borders.
This role offers a unique chance to work directly alongside the partner, Louise Parry, in shaping and growing the Digital Economy practice in Canberra.
You'll enjoy broad exposure to a diverse range of commercial matters, including technology and communications matters, intellectual property issues, privacy and data protection, and other complex commercial transactions. You'll also have the opportunity to take the lead in building strong internal relationships and the autonomy to manage smaller files independently.
With the backing of our collaborative national team, you'll be supported to develop professionally while making a real impact within the firm.
About The Role
* Advise on a range of commercial matters including but is not limited to:
o strategic outsourcing and managed services initiatives;
o the procurement of services and technology and communication solutions;
o emerging technologies, such as AI;
o the protection of privacy, intellectual property and data assets.
* Providing legal advice and drafting commercial documents (including advising on negotiations).
* Seeking innovative ways of delivering legal advice (both internal and external).
* Working in partnership with senior practitioners and other team members.
* Building client relationships at a corresponding level.
About You
* A tertiary qualification in Law and a current Practising Certificate for the relevant jurisdiction
* Suitable applicants will bring 2-4 years post-admission experience (PAE) in legal work relevant to this position.
* Eligible for the necessary security clearance associated with this role, lawyers are required to hold Australian citizenship.
* Strong critical reasoning and investigative skills, with lateral thinking ability
* Proficient in legal drafting and advising, with keen attention to detail
* Capable of managing files and billing efficiently and promptly
* Proven track record in building and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships, earning trust and confidence
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Highly organised, able to plan and prioritise to meet deadlines
* Confident in facilitating presentations and meetings for groups of varying sizes
* Identifies risks and adheres to group risk management protocols
* Displays learning agility and openness to developing new skills
* Resolves problems independently and exercises sound judgement regarding escalation
* A professional, client focused and ethical approach
* Works effectively within a team environment
* Demonstrates resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
