Job Description

The General Surgery Fellow plays a pivotal role in the provision and development of an effective clinical service to hospital clients. Under the supervision of consultant surgeons, they participate in the daily care of acute surgical patients and emergency operating theatre operations.

As a key member of the team, the Fellow is responsible for supervising trainees and junior doctors performing ward-based or emergency department consultations. They also take part in a 24-hour on-call roster as the first point of contact, supported by a rostered-on call consultant.

This role is suitable for newly admitted Fellows into the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons seeking out acute and subacute general surgery exposure prior to commencing independent practice.

* Theoretical Knowledge and Practical Skills: Sound theoretical knowledge and practical skills are required for a medical practitioner in General Surgery.
