Curriculum Development and Instructional Leadership
Job Overview:
The position of Leading Teacher - Instructional Practice Leader (7-10) involves serving as a highly skilled classroom practitioner who takes on leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. This role aims to enhance the curriculum program in a school or group of schools by improving the skill, knowledge, and performance of the teaching workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Drive the implementation of whole-school improvement initiatives aligned with the school strategic plan and government priorities.
2. Develop and implement effective strategies for curriculum planning and delivery.
3. Design and lead professional learning activities to support teacher growth.
4. Manage Performance and Development Plans for teachers within Professional Learning Teams.
5. Provide demonstration lessons that showcase best practices in teaching.
6. Lead the development of assessment and reporting policies and practices.
7. Oversee the implementation of student well-being and discipline policies and operations.
8. Contribute to the development of the curriculum in major learning areas and participate in other curriculum development initiatives.
9. Take responsibility for general discipline matters beyond classroom teacher management.
10. Participate in overall school leadership and management.
11. Support the development of proposals for school council consideration.
12. Enhance the ongoing development and implementation of the school code of conduct.
Specific Role Accountabilities – Team Culture and Student Outcomes:
* Play a key role in implementing actions aimed at improving student learning outcomes, guided by strategies such as the school's AIP and DET Framework for Improving Student Outcomes.
* Collaborate with teams to share data, co-plan differentiated curricula, and reflect on practice.
* Plan for effective use of learning spaces benefiting both students and staff.
* Support team members in meeting performance review requirements.
* Assist teachers in implementing effective teaching processes and strategies documented to improve student learning.
* Support classroom instructional capacity based on the school's Instructional Model through peer observation, learning walks, coaching/mentoring, PLCs/Sprints, and feedback.
* Work with school leadership to implement student reporting and assessment models.
* Facilitate staff professional learning when required.
* Partner with leadership to ensure individual education plans for identified students in the 7-10 cohort.
