About the Opportunity

seeking a Truck Driver (HR) to join our Project Delivery team.
This is a hands-on, outdoor role where you'll support a wide
range of construction and maintenance activities across our local area. Working
as part of a dedicated team, you'll operate Council trucks and plant to help
deliver civil works safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You'll be responsible for operating
Council trucks and associated plant to support construction, and maintenance
works across the Project Delivery TeamYou'll work across a variety of sites and tasks, assisting
with civil construction activities while ensuring the safety of staff, the
public, and Council assets.
On a typical day, your duties will include:
* Operating
Council trucks and plant to support civil construction works such as
roadworks, trenching, bulk excavation, and pavement works.
* Safely
operating plant in close proximity to live traffic, powerlines, staff, and
members of the public.
* Assisting
with general construction and labouring duties including
concreting, pipelaying and landscaping works as directed by the
Team Leader.
* Undertaking
basic risk assessments and ensuring works comply with WHS legislation and
Council safety policies.
* Carrying
out routine checks, basic maintenance, and cleaning of plant, tools, and
equipment.
* Securing
plant and tools when not in use and maintaining them in a tidy, functional
condition.
* Reading
and working from basic plans and work instructions.
* Assisting
with on-site supervision in the absence of the Team Leader, when required.
* Participating
in Council's after-hours on-call roster, as required.
* Reporting
hazards, incidents, injuries, and HR-related issues to your supervisor.
* Always
representing Council in a professional and positive manner.
To be successful in this role, you will:
* Hold
a current Heavy Rigid (HR) driver licence. (MR Licence may be considered)
* Have
completed Construction Industry Safety Induction Training (White Card)
or equivalent.
* Have
demonstrated recent experience as a truck driver in a physically demanding
civil construction or infrastructure maintenance environment.
* Possess
sound knowledge and experience in basic mechanical truck maintenance.
* Be
confident using hand-held power tools and working in construction
environments.
* Have
good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
* Be a
reliable team player who can also work independently when required.
* Be
willing and able to work out-of-hours for emergencies or programmed works.
* Be
committed to workplace health and safety and following Council policies
and procedures.
Remuneration and Benefits
Employment type: Permanent, full-time role (38 hours per week with 9-day fortnight)
Salary (exclusive of super): Starting salary of $1,214.70 per week with the opportunity for competency-based progression up to $ per week.
