Head of Department – Electrical & Electronic Engineering
Open for the next three-year term, this full-time, fixed-term appointment is for a Professor to serve as Head of Department within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, School of Electrical, Mechanical and Infrastructure Engineering.
The role involves strategic leadership, resource management, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and advancing teaching and research excellence.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership to the department, manage resources, and promote a culture of excellence in teaching and research.
* Develop and implement performance targets, enhance teaching programmes, and lead innovative research initiatives.
* Build and maintain strategic partnerships with industry, government, and academic stakeholders to strengthen departmental impact.
* Champion a positive, inclusive culture, including diversity, equity, inclusion, and safety, whilst mentoring staff and supporting their professional development.
Qualifications & Experience
* Doctorate in Engineering (or equivalent) with a strong record of research and teaching.
* Visionary leadership ability, with a track record of managing complex academic environments.
* Exceptional strategic, interpersonal, and communication skills, able to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
* World‑class reputation in teaching and research, particularly in signal processing, power systems, and electronics.
* Experience in leading interdisciplinary teams and partnerships; familiarity with OHS regulations relevant to Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
