Role & Impact
We are looking for a Staff Data Engineer to take ownership of Blinq’s data engineering infrastructure. This is a great prospect to lead and develop Blinq’s data practices, and maximise business impact.
At this exciting stage, ensure our data is scalable, reliable, and ready for the future. You will own data and analytics platforms and collaborate with Product, Marketing, Sales and Engineering to drive meaningful change. Be part of a start-up and product-led growth at Blinq.
What You’ll Do
- Become the strategic owner and technical leader of our data and analytics platforms.
- Build and optimise data pipelines to support ETL into databases, warehouses, or data lakes.
- Ensure data quality and accuracy with robust validation and observability.
- Collaborate with Product, Marketing, Sales and Engineering to align data systems with business goals and measure success.
- Drive cross-functional efforts to address data integrity, reporting, and insights, remediating inconsistencies and gaps.
- Document data processes, architecture, and workflows for clarity and continuity.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong collaboration to understand stakeholder needs and develop informed strategies.
- Excellent communication and advocacy for data-driven practices and internal education.
- Extensive experience with SQL, data modeling tools (e.g., Dataform), and programming languages (Python or R); solid data system architecture design.
- Hands-on expertise with a modern event data stack and tools such as Segment, Amplitude, BigQuery, Looker Studio, Google Analytics, AWS/GCP.
- Vision for building a scalable, reliable analytics platform with a roadmap to achieve it.
- Solid grounding in mathematics, statistics, and data visualization.
- Experience in MarTech and data systems supporting machine learning workflows is desirable.
- High proficiency in A/B testing and event system design is highly desirable.
