Bidgerdii Community Health Services is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled primary health care service operating in the Rockhampton and wider Central Queensland region for more than 30 years.
Our vision is for healthy and strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and communities – self-determining, culturally strong, and thriving in their own way.
The name 'Bidgerdii' means 'healing plant' – the bark of the plant was used for tobacco, and the leaves for healing sores and rashes.
Bidgerdii provides comprehensive primary healthcare and wellbeing services, collaborates with partner agencies for integrated continuity of care and advocates for health policy and health system reform.
Our services include general practice bulk-billing clinics, social and emotional wellbeing and generalist counselling services, chronic disease management, preventative health screening, children and family health and early childhood education services.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Project Support Officer to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to team leaders and ensuring the smooth running of a Wellness project that emphasises Elders Social groups, mental health and wellbeing from start to finish.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work well under pressure.
This role ensures that our Elders and community receive attention and care designed to decrease isolation and promote social engagement.
This is an Indigenous-identified position.

About You
You are a compassionate, optimistic individual wanting to make a difference in people's lives, especially our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, and you have the following:
Proven experience in project support, administration, and coordination, ideally within a health or community services context.
Strong organisational and logistical planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated capacity to engage effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, community members, and stakeholders.
Sound understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with a focus on health and wellbeing.
Proficiency in using computers and software applications, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite, for the management of work tasks and reporting responsibilities.
Commitment to the principles of work health and safety, anti-discrimination, and equal employment opportunity.
Practical Requirements
Valid Blue Card (Working with children check)
Immunisation requirements – it is a condition of employment for this role that the employee is, and remains, vaccinated against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, and pertussis (whooping cough) during their employment.
Satisfactory Police Criminal History Check.
