Opportunity
The Research Database Manager plays a key role in supporting the Faculty's education and research activities through the development, management, and effective use of commercial data platforms. These resources support research projects, teaching materials, curriculum design, and student skill development. The role oversees database selection, vendor relationships, contracts, payments, and compliance, while ensuring platforms remain relevant, cost effective, and aligned with Faculty priorities.
Working closely with academic and professional staff, the Research Database Manager provides advice on database access, data extraction, project‐specific data solutions, software and Gen AI use, and basic coding support for teaching and research. The role also promotes database capability through workshops, newsletters, and online forums, while reviewing usage, costs, and research outputs to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Qualifications
As the successful candidate, you will hold a PhD or relevant Masters/Honours qualification with equivalent professional experience in a related discipline, with demonstrated expertise in managing large datasets for research and educational purposes. You will bring experience in contract and budget management, strong technical skills in SAS, STATA, R, and Python, and excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships across staff, students, and external stakeholders. A proactive, organised, and solutions‐focused approach, together with a passion for supporting academic activities and continuous improvement, will see you thrive in this role.
