The Opportunity
The Special Counsel is a senior, highly specialised role providing trusted legal advice across the business. Working closely with executive leaders and stakeholders, you will deliver high-quality, commercially sound legal guidance that protects ElectraNet's interests and supports informed decision-making.
Key focus areas include:
* Leading complex legal matters across major construction projects, corporate and commercial transactions, land access (including native title), governance, compliance and disputes
* Providing strategic, pragmatic advice that balances legal risk with operational and commercial outcomes
* Managing and overseeing external legal service providers to ensure quality and value
* Contributing to a strong compliance culture through policy development, training and continuous improvement
About You
You are a senior legal professional with strong commercial acumen and the ability to navigate complex, high-risk matters with confidence and sound judgement. You build trusted relationships, communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders, and bring a practical, solutions-focused approach to legal advice.
You will bring:
* Tertiary qualifications in Law and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice
* A current South Australian Legal Practising Certificate
* Extensive experience delivering high-quality legal advice in complex corporate or infrastructure environments
* Demonstrated capability across commercial contracts, construction, compliance, governance and dispute resolution
* Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills
* A proactive mindset, resilience and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
