About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Draftsman to work in-house producing accurate, fabrication-ready drawings for commercial kitchen projects.
The role involves creating detailed 3D models and drawings based on plans and information supplied by ACT Stainless Steel. You will work closely with management, the workshop, and installers to ensure drawings are practical, clear, and aligned with how the work is fabricated on the floor.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce 3D models and detailed drawings for commercial kitchen benchwork, framing, and sheet metal components
* Create complete drawing packages including:
* Approval / sign-off drawings
* Fabrication drawings with frame sizes and cut lengths
* Sheet metal flat patterns for all fabricated parts
* Prepare SolidWorks files including:
* .SLDPRT, .SLDASM, .SLDDRW
* Export SolidWorks files as required for CNC and fabrication use
* Ensure all drawings follow ACT Stainless Steel's drafting style and standards
* Revise drawings based on feedback, site conditions, and project changes
* Liaise with workshop staff to ensure drawings are buildable and accurate
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a draftsman in a sheet metal or fabrication environment
* Strong SolidWorks experience, particularly with:
* Sheet metal modelling
* Weldments / framing
* Good understanding of fabrication processes and workshop requirements
* Ability to work from supplied plans, sketches, and mark-ups
* High attention to detail and accuracy
Experience in commercial kitchens or stainless steel fabrication will be highly regarded.
