Due to ongoing growth and recent project acquisitions, our client is seeking an experienced Mid-Senior Estimator (with a preference for candidates with a Quantity Surveyor background) to strengthen their Melbourne and National Bid and Estimation team. To be successful in this role, you should have a proven track record of delivering projects valued between $40 million and over $100 million in the mixed-use commercial, industrial, and retail sectors. The primary responsibilities of the Mid-Senior Estimator include supporting the Commercial Director and overseeing the estimation and tendering processes for Design & Construction (D&C) projects. Responsibilities entail: Preparing tenders exceeding $40M Measuring and pricing builder's quantities Managing tender documentation Collaborating with local and national industry professionals Procuring quotes and prices from Subcontractors and Suppliers Analysing data related to land, buildings, or construction Exercising due diligence in assessing the cost implications of tender documentation Conducting value engineering exercises Qualifications and Requirements: Tertiary Qualification in Construction, Quantity Surveying or Engineering Demonstrated experience in estimation and cost planning for various projects, including Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and Design and Construct (DNC) across commercial, industrial, retail and government sectors, with contracts preferred at $30 million and above. Proven expertise in managing subcontractor tendering, including hard dollar bids, standards, and procedures. Strong negotiation skills. Solid understanding of overall construction programs and plans. Ability to identify key obligations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Skilled in building strong relationships at all levels, with a focus on coaching and mentoring junior staff. Proficient in relevant software packages, including Cost X, JobPac, Cheops, Buildsoft, Procure, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
