Job Title: Counsellor Advocate Position Overview
The role requires a qualified professional to provide therapeutic support and advocacy services to clients impacted by sexual assault.
* Assess, counsel, and intervene with children, young people, adults, and their families across both REFOCUS and Sexual Assault Support Services programs.
Clinical Assessment & Safety Management
* Conduct risk assessments in accordance with the MARAM framework and formulate recommendations for intervention planning.
Therapeutic Intervention & Counselling
* Deliver trauma-informed clinical interventions and counselling to affected individuals and groups.
Key Responsibilities
* Engage clients in services through outreach and flexible engagement strategies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 2 years experience in trauma counselling or therapeutic work. Degree or tertiary qualification in social work, counselling, psychology, family therapy, or community mental health nursing from a nationally accredited provider.
* Knowledge of child developmental theory and harmful sexualised behaviours.
* Comprehensive understanding of trauma-informed practice, feminist empowerment principles, and relevant therapeutic frameworks.
