The opportunity

Sharp & Carter are proud to partner with a growing and well-respected construction business on the Sunshine Coast for the recruitment of a Senior Bookkeeper on a permanent, part-time basis.

This role will see you taking full ownership of the payroll function while providing vital support across the broader finance operations. You will assist in the preparation of financial reporting, manage supplier and subcontractor payments, and ensure all bank and account reconciliations are completed accurately and on time. Your strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously will contribute to the smooth and efficient financial running of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee end-to-end bookkeeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and general ledger management.
1. Manage payroll processing for site and office teams, ensuring accuracy and compliance with awards and legislation.
2. Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, superannuation and other statutory reporting.
3. Maintain job costing and progress claim processes to support project financial accuracy.
4. Monitor cashflow and assist with month-end reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
5. Work closely with the Director and Accountant to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
6. Ensure subcontractor compliance including insurances and documentation.
7. Liaise effectively with external accountants, suppliers and internal stakeholders.


Skills & Experience Required

* Proven experience in a bookkeeping or senior finance support role.
* Experience within the construction industry is highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of costing, payroll and compliance requirements.
* High attention to detail with excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Confident using accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or simPRO.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
