Cancer Council SA (CCSA) has been supporting South Australians impacted by cancer for over 90 years. We are proud to be the state’s longest running and largest cancer charity, and the only organisation in South Australia that works across every aspect of every cancer.
Here in South Australia, every day, we support families impacted by cancer when they need it most, speak out on behalf of the community on cancer issues, empower people to reduce their cancer risk, and find new ways to better detect and treat cancer.
Short summary
As a volunteer Board, our directors care about making a positive difference to people living with cancer and contributing their skills and expertise to ensure we are continuously improving and extending our services and support to people in our community. Cancer Council SA is seeking Directors who bring strategic insight, robust governance capability, and a deep commitment to equity and inclusion. We particularly welcome candidates with experience engaging with diverse communities — including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse groups, and regional South Australians — to ensure our governance and programs reflect the lived experiences of all people affected by cancer. We are seeking two exceptional SA based Directors to join our high-performing, collaborative Board of Directors:
- Public Health & Social Science
We are seeking a Board member with deep expertise in public health and social sciences, particularly with a focus on community perspectives in cancer prevention, risk, and health promotion. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in qualitative research and a strong understanding of the social, cultural, and structural factors that influence health behaviours.
- Equity & Access
We are also seeking a Board member with strong understanding of the barriers people face in accessing cancer services, particularly those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities; regional, rural or remote areas and under-served or disadvantaged populations. We welcome people with lived experience, community leadership or professional expertise in addressing health inequities. Your insights will help guide our mission to make cancer services more inclusive and accessible for all.
These appointments are unique opportunities to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic organisation committed to improving public health outcomes.
