Responsibilities
RPCV employees are required to demonstrate the expected behaviours and values, and act within their level of authority in carrying out their key responsibilities outlined below. The Civil Construction Apprentice will be exposed to many aspects of cemetery operations and maintenance such as:
Grave digging
Road maintenance
Grounds maintenance
General earthwork
Landscaping
Irrigation maintenance

Strong customer and community service focus, with empathy, discretion, and respect for sensitive end-of-life matters
Reliable and punctual, with a motivated attitude and pride in delivering quality work
Effective planning and time management skills, able to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain smooth workflows
Attention to detail, consistently checking and confirming work to ensure accuracy and completeness
Problem-solving mindset, using creativity and initiative to overcome challenges and propose practical solutions
Team-oriented, contributing to a harmonious and productive work environment through collaboration and support
Willingness to learn, with a continuous improvement mindset and openness to acquiring new skills and knowledge
Good communication skills, able to take instruction, ask for assistance when needed, and engage respectfully with others
Awareness of workplace health and safety, with a commitment to safe practices and procedures
Minimum completion of Year 11, with a passion for outdoor work and willingness to obtain required certifications (Construction Induction Card, Working with Children Check, National Criminal History Check)
