Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst / Consulting Manager with expertise in asset management and field service operations within the utilities sector (water, electricity, or gas).
The role will focus on analysing business processes, implementing digital solutions, and delivering consulting support to improve asset performance, workforce productivity, and customer outcomes.
The successful candidate will bridge the gap between business needs and technology solutions, supporting transformation programs in asset lifecycle management, field service mobility, scheduling, and customer service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with utility business stakeholders to elicit, document, and validate requirements for asset management and field service operations.
- Lead workshops and stakeholder sessions to define to-be processes, solution gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Analyse and optimise business processes in areas such as asset lifecycle management, maintenance planning, work scheduling, dispatching, and field mobility.
- Support implementation and adoption of enterprise solutions (e.g., IFS, SAP PM, Maximo, Oracle Utilities, MS Dynamics FSM).
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with solution architects and technical teams to ensure alignment between design and business outcomes.
- Develop and manage business cases, benefits realisation plans, and change impact assessments.
- Oversee testing, training, and user adoption of new systems and processes.
- Provide consulting leadership to clients on industry best practices, digital transformation, and regulatory compliance.
- Mentor junior consultants/business analysts and contribute to practice development.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical & Domain Skills
- Strong knowledge of asset management frameworks (ISO 55000, PAS 55) and field service operations in utilities.
- Experience with enterprise systems such as IFS FSM, SAP PM, Maximo, Oracle Utilities, or similar platforms.
- Skilled in business process mapping (BPMN, Visio, ARIS, or equivalent).
- Understanding of scheduling, routing, and optimisation tools.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in the utility sector.
Analytical & Problem-Solving
- Solid ability to translate complex operational challenges into actionable solutions.
- Expertise in gap analysis, cost–benefit analysis, and performance reporting.
- Experience with data-driven decision support (Excel, Power BI, SQL).
Consulting & Business Skills
- Excellent stakeholder management across technical, operational, and executive levels.
- Proven ability to facilitate workshops and manage cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Competence in contract/vendor management and system integrator engagement.
Leadership & Behavioral Competencies
- Customer-centric mindset with a focus on service reliability and field productivity.
- Change leadership experience – supporting transformation and adoption of new systems.
- Ability to mentor, coach, and lead consulting teams.
- Adaptability to dynamic project environments and evolving regulatory landscapes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years experience in Business Analysis, Consulting, or Project Management roles in utilities.
- Demonstrated track record in asset management and field service transformation programs.
