Our client is seeking an Electrical Compliance Inspector to join its growing Inspectorate team based in Esperance, WA.
You will conduct complex inspections, investigations, and audits across solar PV, battery storage systems, and broader electrical installations - protecting community safety across regional Western Australia. This includes responding to serious incidents such as electric shocks and fires, issuing inspector orders, and working with contractors and regulators to uphold compliance with Australian Standards and WA legislation. This is a newly created position within a team of 10 inspectors, reporting directly to the Inspectorate Manager.

What you'll do
* Conduct inspections of consumer installations — solar, battery, domestic, commercial, and HV
* Issue Inspector Orders for unsafe or non‐compliant installations
* Lead Level 1 and Level 2 breach investigations
* Investigate serious incidents including electric shocks and fires, and gather evidence for regulatory bodies
* Draft and submit inspection plans to the regulator
* Write detailed technical compliance reports
* Advise contractors on compliance and ensure installations are safe before reconnection
* Work collaboratively within an Inspection System Plan (ISP) framework
Requirements -Essential / Highly regarded:
* Eligibility to be designated as an Inspector (Electrical) under WA legislation
* Current WA Electrical Worker's Licence
* Demonstrated experience as an Electrical Inspector, or strong inspection‐focused background
* Strong knowledge of Australian Standards relating to electrical safety and compliance
* Sound understanding of the Electricity (Licensing) Regulations 1991 (WA) and Energy Safety requirements
* Ability to write clear, detailed technical reports
* Experience or aptitude for high‐risk incident investigation (shocks, fires)
* Current Certificate of Designation — Inspector (Electricity) issued under the Energy Coordination Act 1994
* Advanced Certificate in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
* Certificate IV in Government Investigation (or willingness to complete within 12 months)
* Experience with solar PV and battery installations, or clear aptitude to upskill quickly

The role covers the Esperance region including Hopetoun (approx. 2.5 hours drive), with occasional overnight stays for remote community work.
